Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I love trail running, long distances. I completed my first 100 mile ultra distance trail run two years ago and then again last year. Ultra distance trail running has given me the courage to do the things I never thought I could accomplish. Being able to run for 28 hours non-stop is not only physical but also psychological. I learned how to focus, be consistent, have discipline, and enjoy it all.

What inspired your love of baking?

It all goes back to that 1970s Easy Bake Oven! I was 8-years old when I received my oven as a Christmas gift. Who knew you could bake with a light bulb?! My sisters and I spent hours baking together. Such treasured memories for me. Later on, in high school, I landed a job as a biscuit girl for a fast food chain. Early morning gig with the Hobart mixer and rolling pin. Baking has been my passion ever since these early days.

Why did you want to start Cake4Kids in your area?

I’ve been a social worker for over 25 years. During the first part of my career, I worked on the frontline of several human service programs as a Case Manager. Now, as a policy analyst, I truly miss the trenches. I saw an opportunity with Cake4Kids to get back to my roots and spread some love in my community by baking birthday cakes for underserved children and at-risk youth.
