About
Kent Pramhus and Ray Biller, Coachella Valley Co-Ambassadors
Kent Pramhus
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
After graduation from College, Kent worked at a bank for a short time before getting into aviation. He then worked as a skydiving instructor and jump pilot for a number of years before his transition to owning an aircraft brokerage and flight school. He also worked as a pilot for a regional airline for many years. Kent also has checked an item off his bucket list – he is now driving a Zamboni Ice resurface machine for our local Firebirds Hockey Team.
Why did you want to join Cake4Kids in your area?
I wanted to join Cake4Kids because of my belief that we all need to do something inside our community to make it better. Watching the work my wife Julie does and the feedback and stories about the impact inspired me. I feel humbled and honored to offer assistance where I can to this great organization.
What’s your life motto?
To paraphrase Helen Keller – “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
Ray Biller
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I love to cook, bake, and entertain. I have learned cooking skills later in life and enjoy the opportunity to host dinner parties. It's a lost art to have a dinner party for 8 with an entire menu all home cooked, and invite wonderful people to share in the experience. It's my happy place. I also love to travel! My first big trip was to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tahiti for 3 ½ months — it changed my world — with recent trips to Greece and Turkey, Puerto Vallarta (my second home), the Caribbean, and New England to take in the fall colors.
Who or what inspired your love of baking?
My love of baking came from an old family friend, Velma. Velma brought the women of her church together and started a weekly bake shop out of the church kitchen and raised enough funds to help pay not only for the entire renovation of the kitchen, but for an entire new church complex. I remember going in with her on Saturday mornings at 4am to start the yeast mixture for the breads. To her it was a labor of love, and she instilled that in me.
What inspired you to join Cake4Kids in your area?
I first started baking for Cake4Kids in San Diego and joined with my sister. I baked for a few years, but eventually moved to the Coachella Valley. When I got here, I realized how much I missed baking cakes for kids! So, I took on the challenge of starting a Cake4Kids chapter here in Coachella, and, the rest is history, as they say.
What’s your life motto?
My life motto is "Be Open to the Possibilities, but not Ruled by them."
