Tell Us A Little Bit About Yourself!
I’m from a big family so there is always an event, birthday, graduation or milestone with one of my relatives -- so lots of chances to bake. We have annual get-togethers in Northern CA, where we spend days picking blackberries and making blackberry jam. It's my one big domesticated weekend of the year!
My Mother and sister were school teachers and through them I started writing a book series called Emily Spinach -- named after President Theodore Roosevelt’s pet snake. The books reimagine how pets have secretly helped Presidents, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and TR make important decisions.
My days are filled with creativity, laughter, and a love of storytelling (with plenty of coffee and Pepsi cuddles, of course). Whether I’m baking or writing about a clever snake in the Oval Office, my goal is simple: spread joy in every way I can.
Who Inspired Your Love of Baking?
My grandmother - we’d bake raisin scones and shortbread cookies…I remember hours and hours of kneading!
What was your biggest #bakingfail?
Low-fat Shortbread cookies - disaster - they harden like a rock - today, my family uses them as Christmas ornaments!
